Led by a team of young people with lived experience — from academic stress and identity struggles to growing up with single parents or in immigrant households — Moms 2 Us gives moms the chance to listen, reflect, and learn in a safe, supportive space.

Here are the incredible youth leaders behind Moms 2 Us — each with their own story, experience, and perspective. These are the people your teen can talk to, and who you can also connect with to better understand their world.

Meet the team

jANICE LIANG

Hi! I’m Janice. I grew up in an immigrant household where expectations were high but emotions weren’t always expressed. After my parents divorced, my mom couldn’t afford to raise us, so I rarely saw her as she worked full-time to get back on her feet. Today, she’s a successful restaurant owner — and watching her journey gave me insight into the weight moms carry and the silence kids often sit in. I’m here to help bridge that gap by sharing what I wish my mom had known when I was younger and also share how my mom built success for herself against the odds.

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ADMIN

Hi, I’m Pia! I immigrated to Canada as an only child raised by a single mother who struggled with severe depression and chronic back pain. Constantly moving schools left me feeling unanchored, but growing up alongside her challenges shaped my independence and emotional awareness.I'm now studying Criminology and Psychology at the University of Toronto, with plans to pursue forensic psychology focused on clinical work in correctional and psychiatric settings.I'm here to support mothers facing similar struggles—and I hope that by sharing my perspective as a daughter, I can offer both comfort and insight to help build stability and connection with your children.

ANNA li

Hi! My name is Anna, I was born in Beijing, China— alongside my twin brother and older brother, where my mother then took my siblings and I to Canada! For the first 12 years of my life, my dad worked in China and we would occasionally fly back to visit, until he eventually moved to Canada as well. It was definitely tough for my mother to navigate a new country with two one and a half year olds and a 5 year old, but having family here in Canada definitely made it a lot easier. It was also tough for us having to step up in the household— while of course, I most definitely was constantly bickering with my brother majority of the day (which for sure did not help make things easier). However, I wouldn’t change anything for my family and I think even in the toughest of times, it always gets better. Hopefully, 4TMS will be able to bring you a little glimpse of hope when things are not going the way you want, or to make life a little easier.

DIRECTOR OF EVENTS AND FUNDRAISING

Hi, I’m Hera ! I believe in the power of empathy, storytelling, and simply showing up for others. I love creating safe, inclusive spaces by leading support groups, organizing outreach events, or just being the go-to person who brings the calm in chaotic situations. I’m especially passionate about mothers' well-being. Growing up with a single mom, I saw both the beauty and the burden of motherhood. That experience, along with my background in Neuroscience and Buddhist Psychology from the University of Toronto, drives my commitment to making maternal mental health a priority. When I’m not supporting others, you’ll probably find me binging TV shows, training in archery, or getting lost in a video game.

Hi I’m Lori!  I was a single , abused , and very young mother of twins . In my twenties I decided  to take life into my own hands and move forward .
